Grower: yellow flowers on the tips March to May, frost tender due to its tropical origin

Light: bright morning sunlight, no direct sunlight, it can tolerate late afternoon sun

Water: keep growing medium moist but not soggy, wintertime slightly on the dry side

Soil type: well-draining succulent growing medium, even epiphytic compost works well, keep the soil moist throughout

 

ORIGIN / HISTORY

  • Native to South America, south-eastern Brazil, as far south as the state of Parana, along the border with Paraguay
  • Formerly known as Rhipsalis salicornioides
  • In its habitat, this plant is found growing on rocky ground
  • Hatiora bloom in spring in the wild
  • Hatiora is in fact a rainforest species growing in trees
