Adenium

Adenium genus Apocynaceae are distributed from the Arabian peninsula, including Socotra, tropical and East Africa through to Kenya and Tanzania and are also found in Namibia, now southeast Asia and the Phillipines, but do not occur in Madagascar. They are stem succulents with thickened tuberous stems and thick branches. Milky sap very toxic. The genus name is derived from the geographical place name Aden in Arabia, where the first known plant was found and recorded. Over time the number of species in the genus Adenium has been listed as anywhere from 5 to 12, currently there are five accepted species.
