ORIGIN / HISTORY

  • This cactus should not be confused with Echinopsis silvestrii
  • The former name used to be Echinopsis silvestrii
  • This species is supposed to be endemic to Argentina, between Tucuman and Salta
  • The plant was collected by botanist Carlo Spegazzini and described at the beginning of the XX century (20th century, Roman numeral for 20). However, the plants were never found again in their habitat, so its unclear which habitat
