Grower: slow grower, spring to the end of summer, solitary rosette, drought tolerant, frost tender

Light: full sun to enhance the bright marginal colours at a certain size

Water: minimal water, keep dry in winter, spring to summer water only when soil is totally dried

Soil type: well-draining succulent medium, slightly acidic

  • Cultivar between Agave attenuata x Agave ocahui
  • The sap can be an irritant
  • Agave ocahui originates from Sierra Baviso, Northern Sonora
  • Ocahui (fiber or cordage), refers to the use of the leaf fibers for making rope
  • Agave attenuata (foxtail/swan’s neck), is native to Mexico
  • Agave ‘Shaka Zulu’ is also known as Agave ‘Blue Glow’, the name originating from a Zulu clan
  • It generally grows about 30cm tall and 61cm wide and can be grown in a pot indoors and outdoors
