ORIGIN / HISTORY

  • This subspecies of Adenium obesum is only found on Socotra, the largest island in an isolated archipelago (an extensive group of islands, a sea or stretch of water having many islands), of the Republic of Yemen
  • This island has a dry desert climate with monsoonal winds
  • Grows in rocky foothills and escarpments
  • It is by far the rarest and most desirable of all succulents, it forms with age more of a bush than a small tree, like a dwarf baobab, the stem or caudex can achieve 2,4m
  • This species is also by far the largest in the genus and very slow growing
  • These seedlings are raised from seeds in our own nursery
  • It may come across as any other Adenium species when at a small size, but will grow into a different caudiciform plant
  • It’s a very slow grower
