Grower: frost tender, keep in warm area in colder months

Light: light shade to full sun exposure. In light shade the colour tends to be darker

Water:  careful watering to keep the plant in a compact shape. March till October low watering. Keep dry in wintertime

Soil type: well-draining cactus and succulent substrate, should retain some moisture, but not too soggy

  • Originally classified under Echinocactus
  • Found in Argentina, Northern Uruguay and southern parts of Brazil
  • Grows on rocky outcrops and stony fields in pampa grasslands
  • Wherever the species occurs it is not in abundance
