  • Grower: spring and autumn growers, producing green reddish flowers, dormant in summer, frost tender
  • Light: full sun or bright filtered sun, needs aeration
  • Water: water once per week if growing medium becomes too dry
  • Soil type: prefers porous gritty succulent growing medium

 

ORIGIN / HISTORY

  • From winter rainfall area on the West Coast of the Richtersveld, Northern Cape, South Africa
  • Grootmis and Lekkersing – Namaqualand, up to Namibia
  • Crassula columella grows in crevices in quartzite outcrops in dry cliffs
  • The Latin name means “pillar” or little column
  • In its habitat, it is exposed to a lot of direct sun and appears as if the leaf tips are blushing red
