Grower:  summer-growing species, and very slow-growing. Frost tender

Light: bright sunny spot, can tolerate light shade. It likes warmth

Water: water once per week well in the growing season, avoid over-watering. Prone to woolly lice

Soil type: well-draining cactus and succulent substrate growing medium

 

ORIGIN / HISTORY

  • Bigger cultivar than Astrophytum capricorne var. senilis and aureum
  • Its habitat is Cuatro Cinegas located in the centre of the state of Coahuila (Mexico)
  • The variety ‘niveum‘ is more northern of the Capricorns (Latitude 27 degrees North).
  • Desert of Chihuahua among the impenetrable ‘Mesquite’ woodland (spiny bushes) along with other well known cacti like, Lophophora, Ariocarpus and Echinocactus species.
