Euphorbia is a very large and diverse genus of flowering plants, commonly called spurge, in the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae).
Original species habitat is native to South Africa (specifically, Lydenburg-Naboom). ‘Monstruosa‘ refers to a, usually, crested or distorted growth form of a plant, creating unique shapes.
Euphorbia lydenburgensis cv. monstruosa is a (nursery bred cultivar).
Natural species occurs in rocky areas and valleys in the Mpumalanga bushveld.
“Monstrousa” in Latin means “tangled appearance” due to its dense, complex branching, making it a unique feature plant.
