Leuchtenbergia principis ‘Agave Cactus/Prism Cactus’

• this is the only species in the family, known for its long, agave-like tubercles with papery spines, and large fragrant yellow flowers.
• needs medium to full sun, beware of too much harsh midday sun.
• water well in summer. Winter dormant, frost tender.
• Leuchtenbergia is a genus of cactus which has only one species.
• native to north-central Mexico (San Luis Potosi, Chihuahua).
• the genus is named after Maximillian Eugen Joseph (1817-1852), Duke of Leuchtenberg and amateur botanist.
