Kumara is a genus of two species of flowering plants in the subfamily Asphodeloideae, native to the Western Cape province of South Africa. The genus is comprised of two species: Kumara haemanthifolia and Kumara plicatilis. Both endemic (restricted) to the mountainous areas of the Western Cape. These plants are unique among the Southern African Aloes. Kumara species also lack the marginal teeth. Their habitat is against the backdrop of their rugged mountainous habitat in fynbos vegetation, in which they are found.
